1. You re not a horror star per se, but have an uncanny offshoot business
from the horror world, making dolls. Tell people a little about yourself first?
Hi Dale. First I would like to thank you for this opportunity.
Not much to tell really. I live in a rural part of Bucks County,
Pennsylvania. Often clients want to visit my studio and that would be my dining
room table. I am planning now to try and obtain a studio/gallery.
I’ve had an interest in the horror industry since I was a kid. I was
bombarded with classic horror movies every weekend at the local theater. I also
was mesmerized by the circus sideshows. I am a haunted person, so what I do
comes pretty easy.
2. And when did the doll business come about?
I started creating them as a hobby about 3 years ago and selling them on
Ebay. Who knew they would take over my life.
3. What is your URL for your web page?
www.DarkCreation.com
4. Do you also do special requests for dolls?
Yes. I do several custom orders per year for private collectors.
5. What are some of the types of monster dolls you have made?
I have done a few based on the movies, like Sharon from Silent Hill, Pinhead
and Angelique from Hellraiser, Angelique from Dark Shadows …
right now I have
Nosferatu up on the site.
I have my own line of Parasitus Dolls that seem popular.
6. Have these sold well?
Yes.
7. On the other hand have any religious fanatics or anyone written in to tell
you your projects are sick and the like?
Every so often I get a crazy religious zealot that stalks me and spews random
quotes from the bible. I generally play with them for awhile and then send them
running.
On the other hand, I recently received praise from a Catholic monk who was a
horror fan. That was a very refreshing encounter.
8. What are future releases you have planned or new creations?
I am currently working on a large project … the 4 Horsemen of the
Apocalypse. I am also toying with the idea of creating Hollywood Autopsy
Dolls. I did a Marilyn Monroe Autopsy earlier this year that sold to a private
collector.
I will also be releasing a secret line of dolls at Horrorfind Weekend this
year.
9. What are your interests outside of dollmaking?
Gardening … if I can find the time. I also write and perform original
music.
10 Do you ever travel around to the horror conventions and such, as there
would be a demand for the dolls there I think?
The only one I have done to date is Horrorfind Weekend. I make quite a few
contacts there and get the opportunity to meet other artist. I do have a little
fun, too.
11. Anything else you would like to touch on?
Nothing I can think of right now.
12. Maybe some of the readers will give you some feedback or buy your stuff?
That would awesome. I loves feedback … sometimes.
13. Closing comments?
Thank you.
