Young Velma (Scarlet Moreno) dreams of nothing less than true love, and
for that she's looking for the "special one" - but date after
date turns out to be a disappointment. But today that's going to change,
today's date (Zach Tinker) has "special one" written all over
him. And the evening goes really well, so well that Velma thinks she has
finally found the man she can truly love - until, that is, ... A
pretty unique film, inasmuch as it tells much of its subtext through its
colour-saturated, decadent, at times campy imagery and its soundtrack that
ever so often falls back on Andy Williams' schmaltzy Moon River - which
makes perfect sense in the context. But all of this is actually used to
build up narrative suspense while also giving the film a hauntingly unreal
atmosphere, all of which unloads itself in a pretty dark punchline in the
finale. And all of this, only underlined by Scarlet Moreno's spot-on looks
and performance, makes for a very unusual but very entertaining cinematic
experience.
