It's been a rough day for Laura (Camilla Metelmann): After work, she
almost got raped, she missed the last bus home, it's cold outside and
everybody she meets on her way home seems to be raving mad (at least to
her that is). Good thing then that she happens to stop a taxi, and the
driver (Kim Sønderholm) seems to be short of words, which is all the
better since she's in no mood for talking anyways. Only eventually does
Laura notice there's something not quite right with her driver, at first
he suddenly starts speeding his car, then he intentionally runs over a man
... and when Laura wants to make a hasty escape, the driver knocks her out
and ties her up using wire. With Laura safely tied up, the driver goes on
a killing spree, first slaughtering two prostitutes, then a man who tries
to help Laura, and finally he goes after the cause of his inner torment
that makes him kill - his ex-wife who he feels has wronged him. He breaks
into her apartment, first brutally rapes her, and when that doesn't quiet
her he kills her ... Laura in the meantime has managed to free herself
from the wire, and now she just waits for an opportunity to overcome and
escape her oppressor. But the struggle for her freedom that leads to his
death is a tough one ...
Gritty horror thriller reduced to only
a few locations (the main one being the inside of the dirver's car) and to
merely a handful of actors - but while this might have been done for
budgetary reasons, the film's limitations actually pay off, with the
resulting film being a piece of almost pure suspense, helped greatly of
course by impressive performances by the film's leads Camilla Metelmann
and Kim
Sønderholm at his creepiest.
Quite a powerful film, definitely worth seeing.
