Norman (Bront Palarae) and Dina (Nadiya Nissa) have been traveling the
country as a couple of paranormal investigators, and while his part was
always that of an exorcist, Dina actually could get in touch with the
netherworld. But then during a mission she's killed while trying to
protect her son Iqbal (Idan Aedan), a seer like her. Soon after, Norman is
hired by his friend Jamil (Remy Ishak) to take care of his greenhouse -
that also houses a giant flesh-eating plant. One day, Iqbal takes his
friends and his little sistar Yaya (Angelica Petra) into the greenhouse
just for a laugh - but it turns out the flesh-eating plant is possessed by
something paranormal, and that something is very evil. And Iqbal and
company somehow unwittingly release that evil ... A movie
pretty much on the wild side for sure, Blood Flower blends elements
from different, even disparage subgenres with one another in pretty much
an effort to see what sticks - and quite frankly, this approach somehow
stands in its own way, coming across as a little too random to totally
convince. That's not to say the film isn't lots of fun, there's plenty
happening throughout, and the thing's put together well enough to
guarantee a good ride, but its overabundance of happenings makes it feel a
bit empty all the same.
