Currently teaching the concept of pareidolia - the perception of
meaningful objects, i.e. faces, where there are none - to her students,
Sinead (Diane Franklin) also does an experiment on herself just trying to
see "faces" - and it works only too well, as she sees faces
everywhere that are seemingly closing in on her. That gets so worrying
that she confides in a friend (Carolyn Pickles), who comes up with a few
ideas how to make this stop. But what if these faces were not just the
result of an overboarding imaination ... Father John (Graham Cole) is
summoned to a hospital to inspect a corpse that looks particularly
grotesque - only to figure there's something sinister going on, and he
might already be too late ... Horror faves Dawn Perllman and Sandy
Johnson play a surgeon and a radio DJ respectively. A powerful
short, one that successfully mixes psychological mystery and supernatural
horror, thanks to its non-linear narrative structure as well as its genre
savvy directorial effort, and its great blend of impressive imagery - that
true to the film's theme often hints more at things than actually showing
them - and a very unnerving soundscapes. And of course, a top level cast
also helps making this a pretty memorable piece of horror.
