On a whim, she (Éléonore
Saintagnan) wanted to go to the sea - but then her car broke down
somewhere in the middle of the Normandy, France, amd the locals fixed her
up with a mechanic and a spot at the lakeside camping camping. And as the
repairs take quite a bit longer than expected, she gets more and more
involved with the locals, the people staying at the camping ground, many
of whom are permanent residents, and also with the legend surrounding the
lake involving a sixth century saint and a giant magic fish, a kind of
local variation of the Loch Ness monster. And then one day the lake starts
to dry up ... Almost certainly a film unlike any you've ever
seen before: On one hand it's a very meditative movie that goes out of its
way to portray the mundane life on the camp ground almost documentary
style, with most of the actors actually playing themselves, but on the
other it's also of course a film about a magic fish and how it affects the
area - and on the third hand it's also a darn funny movie, but one that
carries a lot of heart so it laughs with its characters rather than at
them, and that gets its humour out of pretty much everyday situations, as
a result making what could have been the most boring movie perfectly
entertaining and a pretty awesome watch.
