After 7 years of marriage, cop Park is finally able to take his wife on a
honeymoon, to a typical Korean honeymoon-hotel, where lots of other couples
stay as well, including Sung, a practicioner of the mixed sex religion, an
arrogant psychiatrist with his wife, the mentally unstable Hong with his wife
& a homosexual couple of thieves.
But as if all the petty troubles of these people weren't enoubh to spoil the
fun of every holiday, a psychopathic killer is at large too, & soon one of
the honeymooners is found brutally slaughtered on the beach, with his eyeballs
taken out ... & of course, Park is called in to help out in the case -
which is pretty much spoililng his honeymoon even more.
In the investigations he soon finds out that the victim had a rather
promiscuous lovelife: Despite being freshly married, he had a long going affair
with the psychiatrist's wife, & she is even pregnant from him, & he -
in a drunk state, rather accidently - made love to Mrs Hong shortly before his
demise, & the victim's wife tried to get away in too much of a hurry to be
coinidental ... which all by itself would suggest many suspects - & then
it's found out the mixed sex religion has a strange thing about bodily
mutilation & worship going - & this time they worship an eyeball (which
turns out to be a dog's eyeball later in the movie).
However, many suspects come & go, until Hong is found dead in his
bathtub, an apparent suicide, & the note he left behind might suggest that
he committed the murder. Case solved, now Park can go back to enjoy his
honeymoon - until his wife sees a report on tv about a woman who lost her
fiancé in an car-accident right before their wedding ... & the woman turns
out to be - Mrs Hong, who was deeply in love with the man until his death &
mutilation drove her over the edge ... & then for some reason she married
the equally unstable Hong. But when she was fucked by the later mjurder victim,
she saw a familiarity in his eyes that reminded her of his fiancé, which
caused her to take out his eyeballs ...
Park & the police storm Mrs Hong's house & find an operation table
in her basement where they find her lieing next to the corpse of her fiancé
with a scalpel in her breast. Only the intrusion ofthe police it turns out has
saved her life. But when she is carried off into the next ambulance she gets
hold of a gun ... & blows her brains out.
But was the killer reallyx her in the first place ... or was it the
psychiatrist after all ?
This little thriller simply cannot decide between being a whodunnit &
being a all-out-comedy, but makes no attempts in bringing the two elements
together, instead veers off into one direction or the other rather aimlessly
& so often leaves many loose ends as well as scenes that make no sense
(especially the pre-credit-murderscene is never again picked up upon, &
actually it makes little narrative sense in the context of the movie).
