It all starts with little Sachiko (Junko Kawakami) accidently stepping
onto her dad's (Sumio Takatsu) glasses, crushing them in the process. No
big deal of course, dad just gets a new set from optician Kagemura (Rikiya
Iwaki) - and then dad gets all weird, pushing Sachiko aside and heading
off to destination unknown. Fortunately he pushes her right into Takeshi
(Hiroshi Fujioka), who's secretly superhero Kamen Rider, and who promises
her to investigate her dad's disappearance, which is much in line with
many other disappearances who have all gotten glasses from Kagemura before
their vanishing act. Kamen Rider sends his ally/almost-girlfriend Ruriko
(Chieko Morikawa) to the optician, and she gets a pair of sunglasses - but
unfortunately ignores Kamen Rider's warnings not to wear them, and soon
gets a hypnotic message from Shocker agent Bee Woman (Yoshiko Iwamoto)
that lures her to Bee Woman's gas factory. There, all those lured in by
Kagemura's glasses are to test out a new poisonous gas - but fortunately,
Kamen Rider picks up Bee Woman's scent and finds her headquarters right
beneath Kagemura's store, where he frees all those abducted by her
glasses. However, neither Sachiko's dad nor Ruriko appear to be totally
unfazed by what has happened, so it's up to Kamen Rider to beat Bee Woman
to an ultimately literal pulp ... Nothing all too special about
this episode other than the Bee Woman outfit is extra camp. Other than
that, it's pretty much routine storytelling, with all the plot devices
giving themselves away way too readily while the fight and action scenes
are really just routine at best. Of course, it's still nostalgic fun, but
little beyond that.
