Evil organisation Shocker's monster of the week is Cobra Man (voiced by
Susumu Mizushima), a reptile-like creature with a cobra head for his right
hand. And for this cobra head, Shocker leader (voiced by Goro Naya) has
developed special fangs that spit a certain kind of acid that can eat
through everything. Thus Shocker want to use Cobra Man to rob all of the
world's gold depositories - starting of course with the one in Tokyo.
However, once he's already in the vault and has killed a guard, Cobra Man
is chased off by guard Kondo's (Hiroya Morita) son Takehiko's (Masayuki
Ishii) dog, and what's worse, he loses the special fangs in the process.
Cobra Man takes both Kondo and Takehiko captive, trying to torture the
whereabouts of the fangs out of them, but neither knows anything about any
fangs. Cyborg hero Kamen Rider (Hiroshi Fujioka) comes to the rescue but
is overpowered by Cobra Man's minions who soon enough chain him to the
operating table to perform brain surgery to make him one of theirs. But
luckily, Kamen Rider's almost girlfriend Ruriko (Chieko Morikawa) has
given him a lucky charm that contains a homing device, and Kamen Rider's
best friend and closest confidant Tachibana (Akiji Kobayashi) comes to the
rescue in the nick of time. And ultimately Kamen Rider throws Cobra Man
onto one of Shocker's landmines, blowing him to Kingdom Come - which
wouldn't prevent him from coming back the very next episode ...
Cobra Man himself with his snake's head for a hand is of course lots of
fun, but other than that this episode is actually a bit silly or at least
over-simplistic, while not all the fight scenes are wholly convinding -
but at least there are lots of them. Sure it's some fun as much as all
Japanese superhero TV from the era is at least some fun, just nothing
special.
