Three absolute sickos kidnap people, torture them in the most gruesome
ways - like forcing a woman to eat her own nipple, another one to eat her
baby they have just torn from her womb -, then kill them, and film
everything to sell it to the snuff-crowd. It seems though the snuff fans
have grown hungry of late, because no matter how much our sickos shoot,
their distributor demands more. Jamie has had it with her husband. He
hasn't got a job, gets drunk every day, demands her not to only bring home
money but also to do the housework, and when she fails to obey, he beats
her up, violently. So eventually, Jamie takes a hammer and beats his head
in. She realizes what she has done only when he's already dead, and then
she just runs, tries to make it to some place better on foot. Eventually,
she runs into our sickos, who offer her a ride. She accepts, and before
long finds herself in their torture chamber. But as she has proven by
killing her husband, Jamie isn't one to go down without a fight - and yes,
she manages to kill all three sickos ... Generally, I'm rather
fond of low budget indie horrors, and I have no problems to forgive some
technical shortcomings - like the shaky handcamera that makes some of this
film rather hard to watch/follow. But the main problem with Kill
Syndrome is not of a technical nature, and not the fact that the
acting is below average, mostly - some of that is even compensated by some
imagination on the director's part. Nope, the main problem is its
script, that seems to serve no other function than to gross out its
audience - so the gore scenes are as gruesome as possible - even if due to
budget restraints most possibly, the camera just turns away from any
elaborate (and difficult to produce) killings. On top of that, the
characters in this film are uniformly unlikeable. All they seem to do all
the time is to shout at each other, and no attempt is made to give these
persons any depth. And to top it all off, eventually the ending comes all
too suddenly, lacking proper buildup of tension and suspense, and suddenly
one is actually disappointed the film is over. In all, definitely not a
film to watch.
