The vampires led by Wraithwood (Jef Kelly) want to resurrect their
leader Countess Vrana (Kathryn Matuch) who has been killed 300 years ago -
but using her ashes and the blood of their direct descendants, it's
possible to bring her back to life. So Wraithwood tells Demetrius (Kevin
D.Spotts) to find her last two living descendants - Demetrius, who might
oppose Wraithwood at every possible opportunity and who might be against
the resurrection of Countess Vrana, but who also is Wraithwood's best
bloodhound. Enter Carl Spencer (Stephen J.Niles), whose wife (Leah
Schmidt) was killed by Demetrius, and who is now trying to track the
vampire down ... and inadvertedly comes to the aide of Clara (Kimberly
Niles) and Sheila (Marci Kotay), last of Countess Vrana's bloodline. Eventually
though, Demetrius manages to capture Clara, the partygirl of the two, and
bring her to Wraithwood, who makes her his vampire bride. Spencer manages
to follow Demetrius to Wraithwood, and he makes a deal with him: If he
delivers Sheila to the vampires' lair, he gets Demetrius in return. Unfortunately,
once Spencer tries to shoot Sheila, he realizes he can't - which is when
Demetrius enters teh scene, kills her and makes him his captive. At the
vampires' lair, Demetrius is allowed to do with Spencer as he wishes while
Wraithwood resurrects the Countess - who promptly kills all vampires in
the room for letting the vampire blood weaken, all but Clara, whom she
tells to start a new vampire race ... and Spencer has meanwhile managed to
stake Demetrius ... An interesting independently produced
vampire tale that brings an interesting set of politics into the genre
without forgetting action and horror. Unfortunately however, the film is
somewhat let down by its tiny budget and some not-too-great actors (though
it should be pointed out that some of the actors are very fine). Still, if
you can forgive such shortcomings, you might find this one very
entertaining and enjoyable, and full of relatively fresh ideas.
