1968, New Years Eve: Lesbian Brooke (Sophie Monk) kills a rapist
(Justin Shilton) at a party to save another girl, then she and her
girlfriend Rhea (Anya Lahiri) make a hasty escape from the party they're
at. On the road to God knows where they are stopped by a Goddess (Angela
Lindvall), who has Brooke disappear into thin air, then she offers Rhea to
become one of her soldiers - which pretty much means fighting evil as a
good vampire. Rhea agrees only under the condition that Brooke will also
become a vampire - which spells trouble of course, because while Rhea is
so good she's almost an angel, Brooke is a wild child. 40 years later:
Rhea and Brooke are reborn as vampires (why 40 years later I don't know),
and while Rhea still tries to make heads or tails of the situation, Brooke
soon starts to indifferently suck humans dry left and right. Rhea scolds
her for this, but then sucks blood directly from Brooke - so there's a
hypocrite for you ... The night's coming to an end and sunrise is only
moments away, so the two girl seek shelter at a gas station, where they
close all the blinds and promise the clerk (Patrick Renna) a good time in
return. However, it soon becomes apparent that Brooke wants to suck him
dry like all the others, and when Rhea opposes her a bit too strongly,
Brooke kills her, then kills not only the clerk but pretty much everyone
else coming to the station including the whole police force (Jack Napier,
Danny Woodburn, Jennifer Tung) patroling this neck of the wood. Eventually,
Rhea is revived by the Goddess, and now she puts up a fight against
Brooke, no holds barred - and ultimately stakes her. Then she goes on the
road with a teenaged Latina (Electra Avellan), whose parents were killed
in the ordeal and whose life was only saved because they locked her into
their car ... So-so low budget vampire movies that shows some
effort in casting - Sophie Monk is pretty convincing as the badass bitch
vampire, Jack Napier and midget actor Danny Woodburn add colour to the
local police force -, shows some dynamics in the fight scenes and is at
least decently paced ... but on the other hand, it has nothing new to add
to the vampire genre and goes about its story (and especially its
distinction between good and evil) in a way too simplistic fashion. It's
not by far the worst vampire movie you have ever seen, as much I can
promise, but that's not reason enough to watch this one, now is it?
