Wartime: A group of soldiers enter a hospital to have one of their wounded
comrades treated ... but it seems not likely she will make it. The soldiers are
on a mission to deliver the Spear of Longinus to their leader, a spear
that is believed to have the power to heal people ... but it is not that any of
the soldeirs really believe in this story, which makes their mission somewhat
futile. Enter mysterious man who claims to be a vampire hunter & tells
the soldiers their injured comrad has been vampirized ... & it is not long
before the soldiers have tied the vampire hunter to a chair for trying to cause
disruptions in the group ... but just as soon the soldiers (seeral of them are,
it turns out, really vampires) are at each others throats (both literally &
figuratively), & it's not long before they have all killed each other ...
only the vampire hunter & a sympathetic nurse remain alive, when the
vampire hunter is attacked by a vampire, who confronts him with the futility of
his mission ... since the humans are so eager to kill each other, why
try to save them. With the Spear of Longinus (quite a capable weapon when
fighting vampires), the hunter can kill his adversary, but is injured as well
... as he, it now turns out, too is a vampire. He asks the nurse to kill him,
but she, all sympathetic, decides to use the Spears positive powers to heal him
... A 40 minutes long featurette that has undeniable similarities to
the Blade-comics & movies ... & stays about just as superficial &
bland, despite desperately trying to infuse its plot with a message & an
emotional dimension - which fails to work mainly because the characters are not
at all fleshed out.. What remains is competently staged action in a kitsch
framework that's supposed to be humane. That it stays moderately
entertainingdespite everything is mainly thanks to the filmls short running
time.
