Toni (Antonio Hortelano) & Roberto (Lorenzo Armenteros) are
typical college students with their typical (love-)problems, but when
they stumble over a website that at first - innocently enough - invites
them to a game, all of that seems to change: First they are called off
from a party by Toni's ex Susana (Laura Manzanedo), who claims to be
threatened by her boyfriend Alex (Fernando Andina) at the zoo, only to
find out, when they get there, they have been tricked, & not only
that, the motorbike they used to get there belonging to Roberto's sister
Andrea (Monica Estarreado), a pizza courier, has been stolen. Toni &
Roberto soon take up investigations on who tricked them & who stole
the bike, until their search leads the pair of them plus Susana, Alex,
Andrea & Patricia (Eva Marciel), the girl Roberto's in love with, to
a maze-like deserted subway station, where they for the longest time
fail to find their way out & are separated, only for Susana to be
abducted ba god knows who. She is released by her abductors though &
even manages to find Andrea's bike, but unfortunately, her hands are
bound to that very same bike & she is chased by a subway train. She
fortunately manages to escape just on time when her friends cause a
power failure, & they all even find an exit from the station - but
unfortunately Andrea gets captured & kidnapped by some masked man,
as the others find out when watching a security camera tape. Later a
finger of Andrea turns up among the fries Toni eats at a cafe,
immediately before Patricia is run over by a car, ending up in hospital.
Later Susana finds a tape in Alex' car that might prove him to be behind
all this, but when she, Toni & Roberto want to confront him in his
home they don't find him but an invitation to a discotheque which might
have to do something with the whole affair. Once there, the trio suddely
finds themselves to be the only 3 guests, & they are attacked by 3
masked persons they shoot with a pistol they have acquired just
previously from a mannequin planted in the disco's hallway jut to give
them a scare. But the killed masked persons turn out to be Alex,
Patricia & Andrea. Roberto, upon finding out he has just shot his
sister, shoots himself in the head, Toni & Susana flee in panic. But
when they think themselves out of harm's way, Susana has to find out
that Toni might be behind it all, having accepted money from some
anonymous internet-company to stage an adventure-webcast starring him
& his friends for some voyeuristic & thrillseeking audience.
Immediately after his confession, he is shot in the head, seemingly out
of nowhere ... But no, Toni the actor of the webcast has already become
Toni the spectator of same cast, turning off his computer - for the
website that he has entered towards the beginning is only wht you make
of it ... A very entertaining satire on internet-voyeurism,
reality-tv, docu-soaps, even (fake) snuff material, that sometimes is
just a little too clever for it's own good while other scenes atre just
too cheesy to take the whole thing seriously anymore. Overall, a fun
ride though, with neat scenes of action, suspense & even some
absurdity thrown in just for good measure (I liked the maze-like subway
station best, by the way). |
