Michael Shayne (Richard Denning) takes on the case of Helen Wheeler
(Lori March), whose husband has been killed, at his own secretary's
(Patricia Donahue) request. Problem is, Mrs Wheeler is the prime suspect
in the case, not only is her alibi not half as watertight as she thinks it
to be, she also had a motive after her husband's infidelity is found out.
Problem is, there are a great many people in this affair who don't believe
in Mr Wheeler's unfaithfulness, and his alleged mistress (Midge Ware) is
eventually found dead, killed as well. Plus, Wheeler's safe seems to have
been emptied, a safe to which his wife did not have the combination but
his businesspartners Russell (Kent Smith) and Harper (Philip Carey) did,
and the more Shayne investigates the more evidence he finds against
Harper, who actually had an affair with Wheeler's alleged mistress but
lied about it ... but in the end, Russell turns out the killer after all,
as he had an elaborate plan to take care of his two businesspartners all
at once by killing one of them and pinning it on the other, then take over
the business himself - but Shayne has long found him out and after a
shootout and fistfight brings him to justice. Average TV crime
drama with a few nice and unexpected plottwists, but in all nothing to
write home about ...
