Since being retired from his job at the police, "Monaco"
Franz (Helmut Fischer) has (to a low degree) established himself as
private eye - but really more so than he can use his office as a home away
from home ... which is really why his upper-class wife Annette (Ruth-Maria
Kubitschek) wants him to vacate the office to sublet it. But then he
pretends he can't give the office yet because he has a big case - which is
at least somewhat true, as an old blame of his, Carola (Hilde Ziegler) has
come back into town and wants to spend some time with him. Problem is, he
can hardly remember her anymore, and while she sure enough is easy on the
eye, she's a bit on the annoying side as a person. The bigger problem, she
has brought her husband Hubert (Walo Lüönd) so he can finally meet the
man his wife has raved about the last 5 years and because of whom they've
gone through expensive couples therapy - and pretty much find closure when
she leaves him for Franz ... not that Franz really wants Carola in the
long run, much less wants to leave his wife for her. Still, upon Carola's
insistance, the trio visits all the spots she remembers from her days with
Franz back when, and the longer this goes the more Hubert becomes
convinced that the man his wife has idolized is no more than a very
mediocre womanizer. He still wants Franz to take his wife off his hands
though, at least for a few days, so he can have his way with his own sexy
secretary. The situation gets so odd that Franz eventually just takes
flight - but is tracked down to Annette's antique shop, where Carola makes
a scene, bad enough for Franz to pack his bags and move out of his house
with Annette, just to not hurt her anymore. And a new man for Annette is
already waiting in the wings, her best upper-class friend Dr. Braun (Klaus
Guth) who has always had feelings for her. But Franz still has an ace up
his sleeve - not that he knows it yet ... Another fun episode,
and one that works especially well because a certain amount of drama
permeates the comedy one has come to expect from the series, and shows
there are consequences for one's actions as a theme, something that's not
always on the forefront of the entries into that series. But drama aside,
this one's also dead funny, with Hilde Ziegler as Franz's past flame
getting some of the best laughs.
