Graham (Guy Balotine) and Andrea (Tracey B.Wilson) have just bought a
new home, but this proves to be poison for their relationship, as they
grow more and more distanced, and Andrea seriously suspects Graham of
having started drinking again. But Graham's problems are of a different
kind: He has fallen in love with a spirit (Jane Bacon) who lives in the
attic, a spirit who gives him everything he cannot have in married
life, but a spirit that also becomes more and more demanding as time goes
by, and ultimately, Graham neglects not only his wife but also his friends
and his job - so much so that he gets fired and Andrea leaves him. The
spirit's demands don't end here though, she claims that if Graham wants to
really be with her, he has to kill himself ... When Andrea, worried sick
about him, comes to look for Graham, she finds him hanged in the attic. I
know what my synopsis makes this film sound like: Like one of these
brainless erotic features where the whole thinly woven plot is just an
excuse to show as much nudity as possible ... but no, My Wife and My
Dead Wife is not an erotic feature, in fact, there is no nudity at all
in this one, and what's worse, this film actually takes itself seriously! But
while the film would have kind of worked as a nudie comedy (though it
would have been far from being a masterpiece), it simply sucks the way it
is - and a lame directorial effort and an unimpressive cast don't help
much either of course.
