Riki (Michele Costabile) and Luca (Jacopo Costantini) are very much in
love with each other - and exactly for that reason the favourite target
for a group of gay-hating bullies (Leandro Conte, Francesco Iovine, Luca
Machitella, Vadim Ritter). And one day the bullies catch Luca on his own,
and just for fun beat him to a pulp. They're all ultimately arrested for
it, but the harm's done, and they've done Luca in so violently he has to
be put into an induced coma at the hospital. These are then
super-stressful hours for Riki, especially since he doesn't know which
hospital Luca has been taken to since Luca's rather narrow-minded parents
(Lucia Vasini, Antonio Rosti) do not want him there, and his only link to
what's happening is via Luca's sister Rachele (Luisa Vernelli), whom he's
never met, over the phone. And remembering the good times he and Luca have
had slowly drives Riki to despair ...
A very compelling drama that really comes to life due to its
directorial effort steeped in realism in conjunction with a script full of
flashbacks that at times beautifully counterpoint or mirror what's going
on in the main timeline and that help to paint the picture behind the
picture as well as flesh out the characters and their relations to one
another. And very natural performances by all of the involved bring the
story to life rather beautifully, making this a very worthwhile movie.
