4 unconnected ghost stories:
- A photographer is haunted by the spirit of a girl he has killed in a
hit and run accident - and eventually she lures him into being run
over by a car as well.
- 3 teens have specialized on stripping freshly crashed cars of
everything that's worth selling. But when one of them steals a
necklace right off a dying man's neck, this man's spirit eventually
lures him into a motorbike accident.
- A guy is tricked into a motorbike accident by the spirit of his
girlfriend after she killed herself after they had a rowe - though her
death was not actually a suicide, and while she allows her boyfriend
to survive the ordeal disabled so he can't run from her ever again,
she has also taken care of her killer.
- 3 sex-starved tourists move into a cheap hotel full of pimps,
prostitutes and transvestites ... but in their room, a girl has died,
and now her spirit comes back to look for her earrings, scaring
everybody shitless in the process. Truth is though that the entire
hotel might have been inhabited by ghosts ...
There isn't really much to say about Ngao, it's just another
horror anthology, and while it's at least competently made, for the most
part its stories are painfully predictable. Only episode number three
shows some promise, containing quite a few unexpected twists and turns -
but it is followed by the final episode, a bad comedy built entirely on
bathroom humour carried by a completely unfunny cast, so whatever
expectations the previous episode built up, they are smashed here.
In all, there are certainly worse horror anthologies around there, but
this is still a film one could have done without.
