Because Marco has rather accidently stumbled over some of his boss
Franco's illegal activities, he is beaten to a pulp by Franco's men - and
what's worse, his girlfriend is shot dead. With the help of his friend
Felipe, Marco comes back to strength again quite quickly, and soon he trains
himself in kickboxing and shooting guns. Why? - To become a masked
superhero and have his revenge of course. Once
he has fully recovered, Marco dons a mask, goes after the men who beat him
up and killed his girlfriend, and shoots them dead one by one. Then, with the help of
journalist Valeria, he tries to find information on Franco to conclusively
link him to the assault and murder. He soon gets into dangerous terrain
though, and Felipe is even murdered and Valeria is kidnapped because of
his investigations, but ultimately, Marco frees Valeria and finds enough
dirt to pin on Franco - which he hands over to the police before paying
Franco a visit, revealing his true identity to him, and giving him the
choice of killing himself or being handed over to the police - and Franco
shoots himself, too. Allegedly, this is Uruguay's first
superhero-movie - and quite honestly, they shouldn't have bothered. The
problem with this film is that director Gabriel Díaz totally fails to
give his often-told story any local flavour - quite the contrary,
actually, he goes out of his way to make this one look extremely neutral,
anonymous and just like any other
movie from the USA or anywhere else in the world. And that's not even the
main flaw of the film, the main flaws are terrible pacing, a way too long
set-up for its feeble story (almost half the film, actually), badly
executed and edited action sequences, a bland cast ... but above
everything, this film is dead boring, the script features no surprises
whatsoever, and there is viurtually nothing in terms of tension or
suspense. And the constant reminders that this is a comicbook-movie (by
having comicbooks littering every other scene, characters having
comicstrips printed on their t-shirts or blankets) is almost pathetic -
even more so because the film doesn't seem to be based on an actual
comicbook as such. A total
waste of time.
