Having made good her getaway with dead Katja (Tatiana Maslany), Sarah
(also Tatiana Maslany) receives a mysterious phonecall who urges her to
get Katja's briefcase. And since Sarah's too curious what this is all
about, she tries to retrieve the briefcase from Katja's hotel room - which
she finds totally thrashed, which means someone else must be after the
briefcase as well. But whoever it was seems to not have suspected Katja
might have deposited the briefcase at the front desk, where Sarah
ultimately gets it, posing as Katja. But when she later opens the
briefcase, the mystery only deepens as she finds copies of the IDs of
several women who look like her. Sarah also has to find out that as her
Beth persona, her partner, detective Art (Kevin Hanchard) has lifted the
$75,000 from her purse and vows to keep onto them until she's reinstated
as a detective - which might mean though she is to cover up things for him
- which means Sarah has to pose as Beth a little longer to get the money
back. Trying to find out more about what's going on with all the women
looking like her, Sarah tracks down one of them, Alison, who to her
disappointment turns out to be a soccer mom, ordinary as can be on the
surface - but when the two get to talk, Sarah finds out Alison, other than
herself, seems to know what's going on, and at a later point, Alison asks
Sarah over to introduce her to her mystery caller from earlier on, Cosima
- another perfect copy of Sarah ... Well, the second episode of
Orphan Black definitely keeps the promise of the first one, even if
it might not be quite as high on action. But the mystery deepens in this
one while the episode also has a story arc of its own and is high on
suspense and plottwists, to not only keep one hungry for more but also
keep one entertained when seeing the episode on its own right.
