A quartet of teens (Katherine Epstein, Dylan Cobb, Michael Bernhard,
Trevor Cobb) are supposed to spend a vacation with their uncle Raven
(Hildegarth Guillermo Navarro) in his house in the middle of nowhere. It's
not long before one of the teens (Dylan Cobb) starts seeing things, things
that have to do with a certain painting hanging in the living room, but of
course, nobody would believe him - and that the teens are constantly
bickering among each other certainly doesn't help. Now as these stories
go, there's really something sinister going on in Raven's house, and Raven
is more than just a harmless eccentric ... This could have been
an ok haunted house slasher, but above all else structural problems
prevent the movie from ever coming to full bloom: Basically, one always
knows what's going to happen, and it does, while there's no real build-up
in tension - so when the murders start, it's less a feeling of surprise
but more a feeling of "finally" as they were announced a mile
ago and the wait felt endless, even if this is only a short. The other
point here though is that hardly any of the characters are really
likeable, and their constant bickering is thus annoying. Really too bad,
as the film shows some promise but proves to be in desparate need of a
better script.
