Sheri (Sharon Farrell) and Miles (Edward Bell) have a daughter, Janie
(Danielle Brisebois), whom they love very much - even if Janie's only
adopted ... and this is a problem, because Janie's real mother, circus
performer Andrea (Ellen Barber), is presently looking for her, and she's
not going through legal channels either, she just wants to kidnap her. And
it's only due to Sheri's premonitions and the traces of humanity still
found in Andrea that prevent her from really going through with it. But
Andrea has a boyfriend, sideshjow clown Jude (Richard Lynch), who is NOT
the father of the girl, but Andrea got him so heated up about the thing
that he would kill to get his hands on Janie ... and yes, this does
include killing Andrea. Eventually, Jude does succeed in getting Janie
too, due to a car accident by Sheri, but frankly, while he might have
achieved his goal just then, he doesn't really know what to do with the
girl. Detective Denver (Jeff Corey), one of the best, is on the job to
find the girl, but ultimately it's up to parapsychologist Jeena (Chitra
Neogy) and Sheri's premonitions to really pick up Jude's trail - but Jude
has his own bag of tricks ... Above everything else, The
Premonition is a likeably weird movie. Now it might not essentially
reinvent the genre, and storywise it isn't even brilliantly structured or
anything, but it sure enough takes its story into its own odd direction,
and it's sure to surprise the audience quite a few times along the way -
and all of this is helped by some lovably odd directorial choices and a
bunch of dedicated performances, and the outcome is just fun genre cinema!
