Roopali (Rajshri Deshpande) is a policewoman - who basically wastes her
life away in the Mumbai surveillance command and control center, tied to
computer screens keeping an eye on what the CCTV cameras all over town
capture. An unfulfilling task, especially since every time she actually
spots something, someone else gets the praise for the resulting arrest. So
large parts of her day she spends on spying on an upper class woman (Mansi
Singh) and her love life. To break that circle of utter boredom, she
eventually keeps a crime she has spotted from her superiors and goes after
one of the perpetrators, Ajay (Nishak Verma), herself, feeding him with
intelligence on his next heist. But it's not that Roopali has gone rogue,
she just has her very own agenda ... A pretty cool thriller,
and one that manages to ask serious questions about Mumbai's CCTV program
but manages to pack them into a tight film noir-ish story with many twists
and turns and a third act that will almost certainly surprise everybody -
without betraying the film's inner logic though. And a subtle yet genre
savvy directorial effort as well as a very solid cast help make this into
a really entertaining movie on a serious topic.
