A young couple (Emily Heath, Ray Montgomery) on the way to their
honeymoon crash their newly bought car due to a brake-failure and are
lucky to survive the whole thing. But when they make their statement to
teh police, it quickly turns out that they might have bought a dog,
a car wreck merely fixed up on the outside to still be sold for good
money. Captain Braddock (Reed Hadley) of the Racket Squad investigates,
and he soon comes up with old Pete (James Bell), an old mechanic who
worked on the car but who is now plagued by guilt - and Pete is more than
happy to testify against his boss, used car dealer Danny (John Doucette),
who blackmailed him into marking wrecks saleable. In the end, Danny and
his salesman (Billy Halop) are arrested, while old Pete becomes a mechanic
on the police car lot. This story is told in such a
straightforward way that it contains virtually no suspense - which
would pretty much take the fun out of any crime story. and if the story is
also as interesting as this one, it doesn't have much to go for it.
