After an argument with his wife (Lois Hall) over her mischivious
mother, Tom Underwood (Warren Douglas) makes a trip to Las Vegas to gamble
to forget. Somehow, Sherry (Carol Brewster) learns that Tom has loads of
money on his bank account and persuades him to gamble at a private club
where boss Wally (Robert Shayne) is more than happy to cash all his
checks. And since Tom wins almost every time he gambles, he thinks nothing
of it, chashes one check after the next, and the next day deposits his
gains in his account again. This way, he argues, he can never exceed his
limits at gambling. Clever, right? Wrong! Thing is, Sherry and Wally are
running a kiting racket, where they cash checks, then manipulate them to
enable them to withdraw a much higher sum from Tom's bank account. When
Tom finds out he has been duped, he pays an unfriendly visit to Wally,
wanting to beat him up, but is knocked out and almost killed himself,
which is just when the police arrives ... So-so episode of Racket
Squad, which might be quite ok in setting up its story, but
once the set-up is done, nothing more happens than the police arriving out
of nowhere to bring the plot to a hasty ending.
