Rini (Nabila Syakieb) and Ivan (Ashraf Sinclair) have just moved into
their new house, somewhere in the remote parts of some forest, with their
daughter Laura (Sakinah Dawa Erawan), but soon enough, Laura senses a
weird presence around the house and every now and again catches glimpses
of a Pocong (a ghost tied into its shroud). Then Laura is abducted (by the
Pocong of course), and while Rini is quick to blame everything on
something supernatural - especially after learning that her house was once
the place of an infanticide and a suicide - and calls in a psychic, her
husband is convinced there is nothing supernatural going on, and to prove
it to his wife, he takes a lucky charm from the psychic and goes to the
allegedly supernatural place their daughter is supposed to be kept ... only
to find out that she, along with many other children, is really held
there, and not just by somebody but by their caring neighbour Nila
(Kinaryosih), who is actually a Pocong. Sacrificing his own life, he hands
over the charm to his daughter in order to save her - but when Laura
returns to her mum, Ivan seems to be with her again ... only he's not
really Ivan,
he's the Pocong, but nobody but Laura seems to notice. Luckily she still
has her charm with her ... After Ivan has made an attack on Laura, Rini
has finally noticed there's something wrong with her husband, and she and
her daughter make a getaway, only for their car to stop right in front of
Nila's place. Nila happens to come by and promises her help, but somehow
seperates Rini from her daughter. Then Rini meets Nila's husband, who
tells her Nila has been dead for years, she killed herself after having
killed her daughter - so Nila has to be the Pocong ... but she's with
Laura. Going after the two of them, Rini finds Laura's charm, and when she
finds Laura in Nila's arms, she throws the charm at Nila and makes her
disappear, saving her daughter ... In raw concept this film
might not be too bad, but its script just contains too many
inconsistencies to really work: First of all, there's the charm that
sometimes works against the Pocong (especially in the finale, when the
Pocong is killed by it), yet at other times it fails to have the slightest
effect. Then the Pocong are stopped by closed doors that aren't even shut
yet other times they just materialize whenever they want. Plus, no
explanantions are given for the ghost kids, a ghost cat, and Nila's
motives (as a Pocong) are left a tad too much in the vague after her being
the Pocong is given away early on. But worst (yet funniest) of all is this
film's transformation scene, in which Ivan turns into Nila: All of a sudden
he starts grimacing really badly, eating all sorts of food really wildly
(scary, huh?), then he suddenly leaves the room (and picture) through a
door to come back as Nila a moment later - simply wow. Now for this scene alone, the film almost seems watchable, but
rest assured, you won't miss much if you give it a miss anyways.
