A camera team follows around 7 officers (Cedric Yarbrough, Niecy Nash,
Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, Carlos Alazraqui, Wendi McLendon-Covey,
Kerry Kenney) of the Reno police department to depict how the team handles
all sorts of stuff, from annoying mimes to shady strippers, from
drugrunners to tit-flashing prostitutes, and we also get an insight in the
officers' private lives, dealing with issues like homosexuality,
transvestitism and
racism, as well as their relationships among each other, until everything
ends with the officers burning a big stash of confiscated marihuana
("good stuff, even") - at a camp fire. ... and thank
God all of this is not another reality show but a parody thereof, and it's
actually pretty funny even. Granted, the humour of this isn't always a
shining examplesof subtlety or sophistication, but there are hardly any
jokes that are annoyingly blunt or just plain stupid either, and several
are laugh-out-loud funny. Add to this a cast that doesn't try too hard to
get laughs (and gets all the more because of it), and you've got something
interesting on your hand. And the half-hour format sees to it that the
show as a whole doesn't outstay its welcome.
