Selina (Chikako Aoyama) is a cop entrusted with the task to guard the
son of an oilsheik - however, she is shot dead by a bunch of extremely
brutal criminals led by Sakamoto (Lam Chung) and the son of the sheik is
kidnapped and held for ransom.
Fortunately though, the sheik is very interested in robotics and calls
in Doctor Sara (Hui Hiu-Dan) to give Selina a new lease on life in a robot
body that totally resembles her own, plus Doc Sara brings in robot Ann
(Amy Yip), to help the police force in crimefighting ...
Thing is, Sakamoto is a bit of a robot buff himself, and before you
know it he has transferred his brain and everything into a robot (and is
now played by Billy Chow) that is almost invincible. And as this robot he
has turned into a prostitute killer, which soon enough puts the police
onto his track, and soon enough they decide to use Ann as bait, dressing
her up as a prostitute (since she always wanted to experience human sex),
and luring Sakamoto to them this way. The plan fails as much as luring
Sakamoto is concerned, but Ann as a prostitute is a great success ...
Many a fight, rape and dead prostitute later, the cops, Selina and Ann
find Sakamoto's hideout, defeat and decapitate him. However, Doc Sara then
takes Sakamoto's robot body and head back to her lab, where he somehow
manages to rejoin his parts and attack Doc Sara, whom he has soon enough
stripped and raped before the cavallery arrives ... and this time around,
on a scrapyard and with the help of a giant magnet and an hydraulic press,
they make sure they destroy Sakamoto for good.
David Wu plays Selina's cop boyfriend who has to come to terms with her
being a cop as well as his own fear of heights ...
A mix of sexploitation and Robocop, played mostly for the
laughs but with quite a few gore scenes, and the whole thing starring Amy
Yip - in writing that sounds nothing short of great, in a weird and warped
way. The film Robotrix though is decidedly less than great, the whole
concept seems underdeveloped, the script seems incoherent and permanently
indecisive about which way to go next, and Amy Yip once again proves she
is not all that much of an actress, and as always she refuxes to get naked
(while her co-stars, the cute Hui Hiu-Dan and the well-endowned Chikako
Aoyama both have nude scenes. That said, the film isn't all bad, it
features some cheap and cheesy 1980's style costumes, some quite
accomplished gore scenes, and occasionally it even causes a chuckle or two
- it just doesn't live up to its promise ...
