Ruby (Shonty Fisher) and Tuesday (Stephanie Marion Wood) are the
co-leaders of the aptly named punkband Ruby Tuesday, and today is their
greatest gig, performing in front of punk superstar Vince Von Viper (Shane
Palmer), who is not only looking for his next opening act but also a band
to sign to his label - and while Tuesday is super nervous about the
affair, Ruby goes in totally relaxed, plays her gig cool as can be, then
proceeds to passionately kiss Tuesday on stage ... and biting her lip
until blood flows for effect. This is enough to impress Vince, but now he
wants to sign Ruby only and get rid of Tuesday. And he also wants to marry
Ruby. But while Ruby asks for time to process all of this, Tuesday storms
off in a fit, and finds a room occupied by all of Vince's dead wives. She
tries to tell Ruby, but Vince's entourage stop her. But Ruby has plans all
of her own anyways ... A very stylishly shot punk rock morality
play - that just fails to impress on a story level. Basically the
characters are all little more than caricatures with little in terms of
motivation (above the obvious), the shocks don't come across as all that
shocking, and the story, while seemingly prone to being macabre, falls
short in exactly that discipline. It's still fun and atmospheric and all,
but could have been so much more.
