Three friends, aspiring singer Rin, aspiring boxer Kaew and law student
Jane have rented the boathouse of the father of Penh, Jane's fiancée -
and while there, Rin and Kaew fall in love with Penh as well. Rin however
is experiencing a series of failures in his career that send him wondering
- and eventually he finds fame as a singer and musician somewhere else. Kaew
meanwhile fights his way to the top, and when he refuses to throw a fixed
fight, that mightily impresses Penh, and the two become a couple - and
Jane is gentleman enough to give up the love of his life for his best
friend. However, Penh's father is furious that she won't marry Jane, who
has in the meantime become a police officer, so he tries to marry her to
someone else - which drives Kaew over the brink to such an extent that he
shows up at the wedding and shoots the groom, then goes on the lam. Eventually,
Kaew takes over the gang of Tiger Hahn, and becomes one of the most
notorious outlaws of the region, but he is always drawn back to Penh,
which gives Jane an opportunity to keep track of him. It all comes to a
climax after the police raids the hideout of Kaew, Tiger Hahn and gang,
and someone thinks they were betrayed by Rin, who presently sings at a
local nightclub - so several of the men set out to kill Rin, and when Kaew
unsuccessfully tries to save his friend, he suddenly finds himself being
accused of murdering him instead. Soon enough, the police led by Jane
have cornered Kaew, and Penh persuades him to give himself up ... when
Tiger Hahn and gang make a surprise appearance, and the whole thing ends
in a mighty shootout at the boathouse, during which all the baddies are
killed and Kaew is allowed to die a hero's death ... Rather
cheesy Thai-melodrama that might give Western audiences some kick because
of its exotic locale, but other than that there's very little to recommend
this one - and that's not because Ruen Pae is a completely bad film
(in the original sense of the word), it's just very formulaic with next to
no new ideas added to the tried-and-true basic plot.
