Karen (Laura Dowling Shea), Kristen (Jessica Sherr) and
Kaitlin (Jessica Alexandra Green) are sisters who were all born in the
same month (not year, mind you) – and that’s pretty much all they have
in common … and, well, they live together, and are all not really into
their mother, not that they have anything much to do with her. Every year,
mother sends them one joint birthday card – after all, if they were all
born roughly on the same day, why waste money on three cards? – and a
bunch of lottery scratch cards, which of course triggers nothing but
disdain from Karen, Kristen and Kaitlin … until Kristen finds out hers
is the winning ticket. Seeing herself on the receiving end of 1 million
Dollars, she really sees no point to share this with her sisters –
unfortunately, Karen and Kaitlin want in, and if Kristen doesn’t give
the ticket up voluntarily, then violence’s always an option …
Being the first episode of a soon-to-come webseries,
this 6 minute comedy pretty much gets it right on every level: It uses its
time wisely to build its comedy on the three very different characters of
its leads and lets its story grow out of them, in the process not only
telling a tale that’s really funny and has quite a bit of hair-raising
action to it, it also leaves one wanting for more. And this is only
augmented by a very solid ensemble cast, who have just the right
antagonistic chemistry to make this work.
