An apartment building in Bangkok: Two years ago, after the death of
their daughter Pang, the owners of the building have moved out, only their
other daughter, student Fon, has stayed behind, and she feels guilty for
her sister's death. Prostitute Fern, her next-door neighbour, has made it
her mission to take care of Fon, but Fern has a terrible secret, she has
killed Fon's uncle Phibob with the help of policeman Metha. You see,
Phibob was Fern's boyfriend, but he also was an evil spirit. Thing is,
Phibob is back, and now he threatens to kill Fon, and also tells her
Fern's secret: Fern caught him when he was about to kill Pang, and he told
her to kill him in order to save Pang, but she couldn't, and thus Pang had
to die. Fern does her best to help Fon escape, but she also still feels
something for Phibob - so eventually, Fon dies as well ... Secret
Room No. 7 might have been shot on a low budget, but it's a very
stylish film, and it's also pretty clever in its way to tell its story,
taking a circular rather than a straight-forward approach. Now this all
sounds amazing, yet unfortunately the film as a whole is not quite as good
as
it could have been, because quite frankly the story as such is less than
great, and the stylish direction and clever storytelling approach can only
do that much to put it right, which makes this still a rather interesting
film, but one that simply could have been better.
