When a small village is haunted by the Pocong (= ghost tied inside its
shroud) of Sari, a local woman who has hanged herself, a trio of ghostbusters from the TV are called in to put
her to rest again - problem is though that the ghostbusters might star in
what is called a reality show, but actually they are all fraids and
their performances are fake, so now that they face a real Pocong, they
haven't got the first idea of what to do, but they can't just leave either
because it would hurt their reputation ... and would turn the trusting locals
into a lynch mob. So they try and fail again and again to exorcise Sari
and eventually fuck up so badly that they get locked up in a house with
her ... but ultimately the ghostbusters' supporting actress (she always plays
the Pocong in their shows) manages to get into contact with Pocong Sari -
turns out Sari, who was during her lifetime accused of being a whore and
husband-stealer, can't rest in peace at the local graveyard until the
village formally apologizes to her and her fake boobs are returned to her
- and once that is done, the haunting is over. And Ferdy, the leader of
the ghostbusters, even gets a local girl in the end. Very weak
horror comedy that derives its jokes mainly from people falling over and
characters grimacing wildly and running away when scared shitless. These
jokes get tiresome pretty quickly, especially when as sloppily executed as
in this film. On the horror side, Setannya Kok Beneran has even
less to offer, there aren't even attempts being made to create anything
remotely resembling atmosphere, the scares are as predictable as they are
un-scary, and besides hopping about the neighbourhood and appearing in
unexpected places from time to time, the Pocong doesn't really do anything
frightening. Better give this one a miss.
