Miki is a promising young ballerina. Akiko is a former ballerina who
now runs an exclusive ballet school. She sees the promise in Miki, and she
also was Miki's initial inspiration to become a ballerina, and she is the
sister of Miki's boyfriend Genichiro, who vanished from the face of the
earth two years ago. Akiko invites Miki to study in her school, which
Miki happily accepts, also because she figures if Genichiro is still
alive, he would show up at the school first. Soon though, Miki learns that
part of the school's curriculum are orgies, and that with Akiko's express
consent, her ballet teacher is allowed to rape her or sexually humiliate
her whenever he pleases. Akiko, who was still a virgin when she came to
the school, endures everything for Genichiro's sake, and she even starts
to like it. What she doesn't know though is that Genichiro is actually
residing at the school, only a few doors from her, but he's paralyzed and
prefers not to show himself to Miki. He also doesn't know how she's
treated at the school. But why is Miki treated that way in the first
place? Because Akiko is lusting for her own brother, and thus she just
has to keep angelic Miki out of the way, at least until she has made a
whore out of her, to keep her brother for herself. Eventually, Akiko and
the ballet teacher let Genichiro watch Miki being the centerpiece of an
orgy through a one-way mirror - which totally breaks him, and when he
later shows up in Miki's room, they run away together. But Miki has been
perverted in Akiko's ballet school, and she soon has sex with Genichiro
out in the open - which leads to Genichiro in his wheelchair falling off a
cliff. He doesn't die though but is brought back to the ballet school,
where Akiko tends to his injuries. Miki is also brought back to the
school, but when her teacher wants to punish her, he notices the strength
she has gotten out of the whole situation, and makes her the new mistress
of his house, and punishes Akiko instead, who's ultimately broken when she
witnesses Miki having sex with both her brother and her teacher ... One
thing's for sure: If you can't get into the philosophy of dominance and
submission and sadomasochism, you will get nothing out of this movie,
mistake it for a misogynist piece of sleaze. If you're open to these ideas
however, you might be able to see this film as a multilayered and subtle
sex-fuelled drama that manages to make its sex its narration, that
features well-drawn characters portrayed by capable actors, well set-up
(and totally depraved) situations, and that's carried by a very elegant
and imaginative diretorial effort. And on top of everything, the film is
extremely hot, too ... but as I said, you need to have a certain affinity
to the underlying philosophy ...
