The pictures of photographer Krishna (Yogi) start to show weird
distortions out of nowhere, distortions that could have an otherworldly
origin. At first, Krishna attributes it to a hit-and-run accident he and
his girlfriend Suna (Jayashree Rao) were involved in, but then people
whose faces are distorted on the photos start dying for real ... and
Krishna can't but confess that all those killed were involved in a prank
played on Landini (Anuja), an ex-girlfriend of his he dropped in college
pretty much after she let him deflower her, and who soon after the prank
killed herself. To calm down the spirit, Suna and Krishna take a trip to
the country to properly bury Landini's corpse (whom her mother has kept at
her house as some sort of memorabilia). With Landini's body cremated, that
should be that, right? Wrong, because her spirit, which can apparently
only be seen in photographs, soon leads Suna to a set of photos that prove
that the prank was not quite as harmless as Krishna made it out to be -
actually his friends raped her, and Krishna has become an accessory to the
crime when he took pornographic pictures of her during the rape to make
sure she doesn't report it to the authorities. Suna breaks up with
Krishna immediately, and now he decides to track down Landini's spirit
using a Polaroid camera ... and ultimately finds out the spirit has been
sitting on his shoulders all the time - which is enough to drive him crazy
... Tamil remake of the Thai-shocker Shutter,
featuring none of that film's creepiness, atmosphere or elegance. Instead,
it's just a soulless retelling of the story, lacking any real conviction
needed to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats, or at least decent
pacing - actually, the first half of the film is so slow and uncreepy you
wouldn't even guess you're in a horror film. A totally detached direction
doesn't help one bit either. You better watch the original and give this
one a miss, trust me.
