A serial killer is roaming the town, specializing on girls he meets on
dating sites online, and being smart enough to lay out false leads, so
every time the police think they're upon him they run into a dead end. And
despite this, Jack (Ben Kaplan) and Kristy (Morgan Carter) meet online and
agree to a blind date - but as a sort of precaution they agree to rent a
cabin in the country where they're relatively safe from the serial killer.
And they actually really fall in love and have sex the first night - only
problem is, their hosts, Momma (Jewel Shepard) and dad Jesse (R.A.
Mihailoff) are actually maniacs who soon drug them, tie them up in their
basement, and have definite plans to rape and murder them. Somehow Jack
manages to escape though, and even though he's a city boy, he manages to
thwart Jesse's attempts to capture him time and again, and almost manages
to murder him a couple of times. Momma and Jesse's daughter Caitlin
(Rebecca Crowley) is so impressed by Jack that she decides to help him
escape, but that ends bitterly, and then Jesse manages to corner Jack, too
- but Jack has a secret that might turn the tides for good ... Slasher.com
is a thriller that truly keeps one tied to the screen, as if after a
set-up that manages to build up the mystery, breaks into an action- and
suspense-filmed second half of the manhunt-in-the-woods variety that's
well-paced and beautifully filmed and isn't short on violence one would
expect from a film like this. Plus the characters are just the right
amount of like- or hateable to really feel for them. Unfortunately, in the
finale the film tries too hard to surprise everybody and thus gets too
smart for itself, culminating in an ending that seems to be pulled out of
the hat rather than thought through, just to add another surprise to the
show. That said though, all of this is just an afterthought, the film's
actually lots of fun while watching and should keep one terrificly
entertained for its running time at least.
