Rather by chance, Willa (Lindsae Klein) meets Arlo (Willow Finey) at a
party, and the two fall in love, but then Willa calls it quits out of the
blue before things can get too intimate - only to eventually make up with
her again, and the two have a full-blown relationship. But there's always
something in the back of Willa's mind, the death of her true love five
years ago, but that's something she just can't bring herself to tell Arlo.
But her roommated Edger (Michael Draper) and Janet (Beth Moesche) know
she's heading straight for disaster - which pretty much strikes when Willa
catches Arlo's ex (Cecily Overman) at Arlo's place, and she just doesn't
want to listen to Arlo's explanation that it was all just a
misunderstanding (the audience knows it was). And this is where a period
of soul-searching sets in which can either destroy Willa or make her all
the stronger ... A very nice indie dramedy that's really good
in downplaying its events, puts more emphasis on nuances than overblown
feelings and leaves things intentionally vague rather than explaining
everything away (which very much is fitting regarding the film's title).
And a subtle directorial effort and a likeable ensemble cast playing a
cast of relatable, fleshed out characters of course help bringing this to
life rather beautifully.
