It's Lance's (Blake Allan) wedding tomorrow, so his friends are of
course throwing a big stag do for him and get him totally pissed - and
then his best friends (Jason Bytheway, Christopher Faith, Mick Cann,
Velton Lishke), none of whom are exactly sober anymore, have the idea that
will really make this event special: Why not seal Lance in a coffin and
bury him in a shallow grave? Not to kill him or anything of the sort, just
to give him the fright of his life, and his claustrophobia should come in
handy there. But of course, his friends play it safe, they even put a
walkie-talkie into the coffin with him for emergencies (and to be
first-hand witnesses of his reaction of course), so what on earth could go
wrong?
Stag Do is ... fun basically, in the way old-fashioned
short stories are fun, telling an original tale that is given a surprise
twist or punchline in the finale, and not shying away from the macabre
when it's fitting but shying away from playing it just for laughs or just
for scares. A subtle directorial effort and a compact cast of course
totally help to make this one very entertaining little movie!
