After Phones gets tricked into buying a treasure map, the whole crew of the super-sub
Stingray - hero/captain troy, his sidekick Phones and the mute mermaid
Marina - go on a treasure hunt on the Ocean floor, and they really do find
a vast treasure in a hidden cave - but the treasure is guarded by two
underwater beings who apparently live their and want the treasure for
themselves (what they would do with such a large treasure living miles and
miles away from any kind of civilisation I will never know) ... and they
soon enough throw our heroes into a prison cell (it's fun to see they have
prison cells since the population of the cave doesnt exceed two). However,
our heroes are saved by the treasure hungry Captain Black, who claims he
will save them but only leads them into a trap - a trap laid by the two
submariners who have trapped them in the first place ... nope, I don't
quite get it. Anyways, somehow Troy escapes the trap, and while his
friends are tortured by Cap Black and the two submariners, he finds,
hidden among the treasure, an old cannon as used on galleys, and in the
finale fires it, burying all the baddies - but none of the goodies - under
rubble, then freeing his friends and making the baddies - who all have
survived the cave-in unscathed - prisonsers ...
Even though the script is full of holes and the story by and large
lacks miniature effects, this is one of the better epsiodes of Stingray,
especially because there is very little in regard of high drama, which
this series' puppets (and puppets by and large) always suck in.
Not actually good, but not too bad either.
