Professor Nakamura (Zhang Guozhu) has gone missing on an expeddition to
the jungles of New Guinea and is pronounced dead - much to the dismay of
his insurance agent Lucy (Nina Li Chi), whose company is to pay a huge
amount in the case of his death. Lucy thinks that the professor has only
faked his own death though, so she pretends to be his pregnant girlfriend
and persuades Nakamura's daughter Eko (Elaine Lui) to go on an expedition
to find him. On their way to wherever they believe Nakamura to be, the
two girls get into tribal warfare, and when her fake pregnant belly is
speared, Lucy is forced to drop her disguise, and the two girls become
rivals, but are still both hell-bent on finding the professor.
Fortunately, they find a Chinese living among the natives, Lung Fei (Fan
Siu-Wong) who knows where the professor might be found: The tribe of the
Leopard Woman (Devi Sabah), a tribe that hasn't forgotten its ancient ways
... but makes hell of a lot of money from running a drug-running operation
on the side. When Lung Fei, Lucy and Eko get to the tribe, they have to
realize Nakamura is the tribe's captive - and they have to realize they
are not only grossly outnumbered by the tribe, the tribe also wants no
visitors. Eventually, Lung Fei and the girls are seperated, and after many
a jungle adventure, they are captured by the Leopard Woman's tribe, who
desperately need these two as hostages to force Nakamura to give away the
location of a vast treasure. However, Nakamura agrees to talk only if the
Leopard Woman lets his daughter go, and Eko is quick to fetch Lung Fei to
help her save the others, which is achieved after many a fight ... Indonesian
genre star Advent Bangun plays the Leopard Woman's right-hand man. Stone
Age Warriors is an ok jungle adventure comedy that has a bit of
everything: Pulp clichées, laughs, jungle animals, martial arts, even a
bit of gore - and yet somehow the film leaves one indifferent, and it's
quite probably because it has a bit of everything and in the process has
no clue in which direction to go. That all said, the film isn't actually
bad and could work nicely as a party movie, it's just not really good,
either, and somehow seems to be unable to keep its promise (even though it
never gave one).
