Two (literal) clowns (Emma Kenny, Jimmy McCarthy) break into an office
to look for some documents - but really only have a very vague idea where
to look. And the whole thing is that one of them takes clowning much too
seriously and tries to make a silly joke out of everything. And so, while
searching the place, a security officer (Clementine Bogg-Hargroves) storms
the scene trying to apprehend the clowns - but there's just one problem,
this security officer is so affraid of clowns she has blindfolded
herself for the apprehension - which makes the task rather difficult ... Above
all else, Stop IT! is fun, and actually it's a refreshing respite
of all the "scary clown" movies that have come out of late as
well as a send-up to that subgenre (with the new It movies
getting extra mention in a rather unexpected way). But what really makes
this movie work is that the clowns stay in character, the humour is
actually clown-related - and extra-funny due to the inappropriate
situation. Now add to that a solid cast and a directorial effort that
gives the actors the necessary room to play out their antics rather than
driving things home with a sledgehammer and you've got a pretty fun movie!
