Sleazy small-fry private eye Peter Carbone (Gaetano Iacono) gets a
lucrative assignment from the most unlikely of sources, mob hitman Jonny
Testa (John K. Fiore), a man who he has had invariably uncomfortable
experiences in the past. But Carbone knows however bad their brushes were,
it was never personal, plus Testa puts the money on the table for a rather
simple assignment: A stakeout on the DA (Josh Diveley), as his wife
(Michelle Palmer) suspects him to have an affair. Spying on the DA: bad
idea ... but turning down the bundle of money Testa hands him: Even worse
idea. So Carbone sets out to stalk the DA, figuring he has seen everything
in his job, so what's the worst that even could happen ... well, seeing
his own wife (Michelle L. Hynes) getting way too friendly with the DA,
that's what. And things go downhills from there ... Sweet
Revenge is an entertaining crime short in the best noir tradition: A a
cleverly written tale about a guy facing odds too big for him, is full of
twists and surprises, full of seedy figures from all walks of society's
spectrum - and it's directed with an emphasis on atmosphere over action
and well-played by a competent ensemble cast. In short, totally worth your
while.
