GB Shaw's (Michael Jayston) entire universe is built on pure logic, that
actually had made him a rich businessman, & that led him to keep small-fry
embezzler Jerry (Andrew Ray) aboard his company if he needs someone for a dirty
job.
& needing someone for the dirty work GB does when he finds out his posh
wife Paula (Lynette Davies) has an affair with Peter (Christopher Reich), &
GB really has to get rid of her. So he hires Jerry to hire someone to hire a
killer - the many middleman for discretion - & he pays quite an amount of
money for the demise of his wife.
And then ... nothing. What GB didn't account for in his logic building was
that someone might beat him at his own game - as Jerry never hired anyone in
the first place & only let GB pay to have something against him ... When GB
learns this, he furiously shoots Jerry - furious at how his game of human chess
had turned against him.
Now, in prison, he has sufficient time to get ever deeper into the logic of
chess ...
Overall, this is an ok story, though not all the plottwists come actually
all that unexpected, & the direction is rather unexciting.
