France 1939: It's a beautiful summer which 14-year old Julien (Thierry
Tevini) spends at his mother's (Macha Méril) boarding house longing for
his pretty 16-year old cousin Julia (Anja Schüte) - however she has
fallen head over heels in love with Charles (Jean-Yves Chatelais), the
womanizing fiancé of Julien's sister Claire (Elisa Servier) - even if she
panics when he tries to get into her panties.
Eventually, Julien realizes that the only way to make Julia fall out of
love is to have her catch Charles raping a maid (Carmen Weber) red-handed
... but that simply breaks Julia's heart.
Then the war comes, and all the man go to war, leaving Julien (who's
only 14, remember) the only male member of the household ... and all of a
sudden, all the maids make it their habit to every now and again sneak
into his room to have sex with him - until Julia catches him with one of
the maids, incidently the very same she caught Charles with ... and once
again her heart is broken. However, despite shagging pretty much the whole
household, Julien is pretty much in love with her, and in the end they
make love ...
This film represents of course the perfect (macho) fantasy of every boy
in his puberty - being the object of desire of quite a number of sexy
maids and getting to shag his one true pretty love. But of course, the
film was not made by a boy in his puberty and (due to its sexual content
and many nude scenes) not even for the puberty-crowd. Instead it was
filmed by high gloss erotica specialist David Hamilton (so pretty much
everything is seen through a soft filter, both literally and figuratively)
for a rather high-brow audience - and actually the film was quite a
success.
However, the film is far from good, everything is high-gloss but
meaningless, with the images being mostly self-sufficient while much of
the more interesting story elements are left unexplored. And the constant
use of soft filters is actually getting annoying after a short while.
Truth to be told, some of the scenes are kind of erotic still, but that's
not enough to carry a movie ...
