Thunderbird 2, pretty much the supply plane of the Thunderbird fleet,
is accidently shot down by the Sentinel, an experimental Navy battleship -
which is bad news, since in an effort to move the entire Empire State
Building, the building does not only collapse, it also buries TV reporter
Ned and his cameraman Joe beneath the rubble. They survive in a cavern
though, but the cavern quickly fills with water, and the only way to save
them would be via Thunderbird 4, the submarine of the Thunderbird fleet -
but without Thunderbird 2 operative, it's almost impossible to get to the
two in time ... unless it can be delivered via the Sentinel. Of course,
everything ends happily, and even reporter Ned, who previously wanted to
reveal the identities of the Thunderbird pilots, now keeps tehm a secret
out of gratitude. Despite a slightly diferent setup, this one
is extremely similar to Pit
of Peril, a very recent episode of the series - and once again,
the puppets are not able to carry the human drama the story invovles quite
as well as they should. At least, most of the special effects are great
again, though the moving and the collapse of the Empire State Building are
not quite as impressive as they should/could have been.
