Alan (Nick Plakias), an electronics expert and communications
scientist, picks up communications that might hint to UFOs - and right in
a backwoods area that's famous for its above average accounts of UFO
sightings. Alan discusses this with his colleagues, and while they are
reluctant to believe him/believe in UFOs, the circumstantial evidence he
presents is at least scientifically sound. Still, Alan needs to
find out more, so he hooks up with medium Vivian (Cynthia Cline) who seems
to pick up weird vibes at the location, and once they camp there, her
sixth sense goes haywire. Soon, Alan and Vivian are joined by computer
expert Dr Mansfield (LaVerne Light) and her assistant (Tom Arcurargi). But
the good doctor soon enough suffers a dizzy spell though, and while
everybody else cares about her, Alan wanders off, first mentally then
physically, as he's under the aliens' spell and supposed to become their
... vessel of sorts (don't ask). When the others find him, he has aged
about half a century, then he wanders off into the lake a UFO is supposed
to have landed ... and only his skeleton remains. A very
diffuse and very low budget UFO movie that makes attempts at psychedelia
to appeal to the esoteric crowd (well, presumably at least), but really
doesn't do anything much for anyone. Basically it's just too pedestrian in
its directorial approach, even its slightly esoteric effects seem
same-old-same-old especially for the era this one was made, and
narratively, there really isn't much there, no real tension or suspense,
just people talking, with the psychic phenomena thrown into the story
coming across as irritating rather than exciting. Well, I'm sure retro
freaks like myslef will at least love the (from today's point of view)
old-fashioned computer equipment used in that film, but that's not enough
to make this one any good, really.
