UFOs attack the earth, and naturally especially Japan, so Science
Patrol does its best to defend the country - but they are fighting a
losing battle, especially when the UFOs release the obligatory giant
monster onto Japan. Thank God then that one of the Patrol's pilots, Hayata
(Susumu Kurobe) is secretly giant robot Ultraman (Bin Furuya), who
routinely takes on giant monsters attacking Japan - but Ultraman cannot
defeat this one in time, runs out of energy and dies ... yet he has bought
the Science Patrol enough time to defeat all the UFOs and prepare their
weapons to take care of the monster, and thus the world is saved once
more. And Hayata survives Ultraman's death when his robot self decides to
give up his own 3existance for good in favour of his host body ... The
last episode of the original Ultraman series is at best
mediocre. It does feature some nice UFOs, and the monster is not too bad
(in a hokey way) either, but considering this is a series finale, the
story is very routine and by and large lacks special action and the ending
is a bit too cheesy to convince.
