In a fantasy world that's ruled by teddy bears and unicorns, young male teddy bears are sent to the Love Camp, where they are trained in looking especially cute ... and fighting and killing unicorns. And a batallion of freshmen recruits is sent out into the jungle one day to look after a lost platoon, not because they're so well-trained but because they're expendable. And after a long and gruelling march through the jungle marred by injuries, drug abuse, murder and suicide, they find the lost platoon, apparently slaughtered by the unicorns. And soon the unicorns are onto them as well, and ultimately they leave only two survivors, brothers Bluey and Tubby. Now Tubby is a being that's always full of love and is an incorrigible optimist, so it's no wonder that he, when he stumbles upon a young and injured unicorn, that he takes it back to a secret cave to nurse it back to health, living on what nature can provide. Bluey, a bear with a dark heart, meanwhile makes it back to civilisation, with half his face torn off. The army however is thankful of his services, promostes him to sergeant and provides him with a creepy mask to hide his face. However, Bluey has read in the holy book that whoever drinks the blood of the last unicorn will become invincible. So he slaughters all his superiors, takes control of the army, and leads his troops into war - a war that no one can win ...

The idea to make a pretty brutal war movie involving cutely animated teddy bears and unicorns is of course an ingenious one. And the film's well-executed, too, as in its best moments its weirdly reminiscent of Vietnam War classics like Deer Hunter, Apocalypse Now or Full Metal Jacket - if teddy bears were in those movies. So there are plenty of laughs there. However, the film goes on a little bit too long and changes tone in the finale to go fully dark - but unfortunately that finale is somewhat lacking in originality and seems even a bit forced, especially in its final punchline. Still, if you've got a wicked sense of humour and/or teddy bear gore's your thing, this one's definitely for you.
