Two escaped convicts (Harold J.Stone, Harry Dean Stanton) stop by a
diner to ask an old cellmate of theirs, waiter Phil (Eddie Firestone) for
the address of another cellmate - and get Phil into deep trouble once
Marshal Morgan (John Bromfield) finds out who he's (involuntarily) hung
out with. Eventually, the escapees take the wife (Jean Howell) of the
cellmate they were to visit hostage, but once the police has arrived and
the woman has saved herself, it all culminates in a shootout that leaves
both escapees dead. Ok crimedrama I guess, if nothing special,
but there's one thing that I can't quite figure: Why is the whole setup
concerning diner waiter Phil eventually dropped out of sight when even the
title carries the word diner in it?
